Woman Shatters Hundreds of Bottles of Alcohol Inside an English Supermarket
A woman was filmed smashing hundreds of bottles of booze inside an Aldi supermarket in Stevenage, England, on November 25.
Footage of the incident shows a large pile of broken bottles on the aisle floor as the woman swipes more bottles from the shelves. The woman is seen slipping and falling on the broken glass and several shoppers can be heard saying the woman is bleeding from her right hand.
The woman was arrested and was also treated in hospital for her injuries, according to reports.
Lee Clark captured this video and told Storyful he spoke to a supermarket manager who estimated the woman caused the store about £100,000 (around $130,000) in damages that include the destroyed spirits stock, lost revenue due to shop closure, and the cost of new flooring.

Blendon Township police released Kroger surveillance video and new bodycam footage on Friday showing the moments leading up to the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young.
Young, who was pregnant, died on Aug. 24 after being shot by an officer in the parking lot of the Kroger, located at 5991 Sunbury Rd. in Blendon Township. Her unborn daughter did not survive.
Surveillance video from inside the state liquor store shows Young putting several bottles of liquor into a bag she was carrying. The Blendon Township Police Department said two other unidentified women also placed bottles in their bags. They all left the store, setting off theft alarms on their way out, according to police.
A Kroger employee told officers who were at the store on an unrelated matter that multiple people were fleeing the store with stolen items, Police Chief John Belford said. That included Young who had allegedly taken multiple bottles of alcohol. One officer went to the driver’s side of Young's car and told her to stop, Belford said, while the other officer moved in front of the vehicle.
Shots were fired less than one minute after she walked out of the store.

About a third of people of East Asian descent have a genetic variant that leads to “Asian glow,” a distinctive red flushing that appears after drinking alcohol. It’s due to the body’s inability to rid itself of acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct of metabolizing alcohol.
The variant causes more harm than embarrassment at a cocktail party. Deficiency in aldehyde dehydrogenase, an enzyme that converts acetaldehyde into acetate (which the body harmlessly excretes) significantly increases the risk of coronary artery disease for the world’s estimated 540 million people who carry the variant, especially for those who drink.
A study led by Stanford Medicine, published Jan. 25 in Science Translational Medicine, demonstrates that ALDH2 deficiency can damage the cells that line the inside of blood vessels. This damage goes a long way toward explaining the association between the condition and high rates of coronary artery disease, said Joseph Wu, MD, PhD, professor of cardiovascular medicine and of radiology, director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, and senior author of the study.
The researchers also identified a widely available antidiabetic drug that may protect against damage to the endothelial cells of those with ALDH2 deficiency who consume alcohol.

His clinical interests include adult congenital heart disease and cardiovascular imaging. He strives to help each patient achieve the best possible heart health and quality of life.
Che-Hong Chen, PhD, is a molecular biologist and geneticist at the Stanford School of Medicine. His research focuses on aldehyde toxicity and the function of the ALDH multi-gene family in humans. His research is highlighted by the discovery of a class of novel enzyme modulators of aldehyde dehydrogenase.
